Golden Hour Gear Repair is a specialty outdoor gear repair and customization service based on Mount Desert Island, Maine — home to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. We work primarily with textile-based outdoor gear, like jackets, tents, and backpacks. We accept local repairs through our drop box at Volta, and can also accept mail-in repairs.

Golden Hour Gear Repair is owned and operated by Isabella Connelly. Isabella has held some pretty cool jobs since moving to MDI in 2015 — highlights include bartending at farm-to-table restaurants, building granite staircases on the Acadia trail crew, and managing the Jesup Memorial Library’s archives — all while nursing the dream of a local gear repair shop!

Golden Hour Gear Repair started to take form in late 2024, and was propelled into life after Isabella won the Big Gig pitch competition in April 2025. In addition to their support, GHGR wouldn’t be here without the help of friends, neighbors, community partners like Volta, and the advice of other seasoned repairers — thank you all!
